Even though speaking is a basic skill that needs to be cultivated starting in elementary school, many kids still struggle with oral communication. The purpose of this study is to illustrate how the storytelling approach is used to help primary school kids improve their speaking abilities, highlight its advantages for learning Indonesian, and examine how it affects students' speaking abilities once it is put into practice. This study reviews pertinent scientific literature, especially works published between 2021 and 2026, using a qualitative methodology based on library research. The results show that the storytelling approach is successful in improving students' speaking abilities, as seen by a rise in learning mastery from 48% in the pre-cycle to 88% in the second cycle. Students' vocabulary, confidence, fluency, and ability to form coherent sentences all improved through storytelling exercises, which also created a fun and engaging learning environment that promotes active student participation in the learning process.
