Abstract

Diet is a major factor that can be modified by people with hypertensive disease. Consuming too much protein, high calories, salt, sugar, fat and low fiber can trigger hypertension and other disease problems. This study was conducted to clarify the relationship between diet and the incidence of hypertension in elderly people should start implementing a healthy lifestyle by always consuming food with a balanced menu. This type of research is correlational with a cross-sectional approach with the sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 62 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire with r count validity test <0.374 and reliability test 0.723> 0.60, data analysis using chi-square test. The results of the chi-square statistical test obtained a p value of 0.604> 0.05 which means that there is no relationship between diet and blood pressure in elderly hypertension history at UPT Puskesmas Marina Permai Kota Palangka Raya. The findings show that diet has no relationship with patients with hypertension at the Marina Permai UPT Puskesmas, it is hoped that further research can look at other factors that have a relationship with hypertension.
