Physical Fatigue, Work Stress, Reaction TimeAbstract
The increasingly competitive textile industry demands workers to maintain high levels of productivity, which increases the risk of physical fatigue and work-related stress. A preliminary study on sarong sewing operators at PT Qx showed that 69.67% of workers experienced physical fatigue, and 70% were classified as having severe fatigue based on Reaction Time application measurements. This study aims to analyze the correlation between physical fatigue and work stress among sarong sewing operators at PT Qx. An analytical observational method with a quantitative, cross-sectional design was used. The study population included 103 sarong sewing operators in Pekalongan Regency, with 51 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Primary data were collected using the IFRC questionnaire (to assess physical fatigue), the PSM questionnaire (to assess work stress), and the Reaction Time application (to measure motor response). Data collection was conducted over a 10-day period from January 20 to 30, 2025. Data were analyzed using the Spearman’s Rank correlation test. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between physical fatigue and work stress (p = 0.001; r = 0.437), and a significant negative correlation between Reaction Time measurements and work stress (p = 0.026; r = -0.312). These findings indicate that increased physical fatigue is associated with higher work stress, although the correlation with Reaction Time was weak. It is concluded that there is a significant correlation between physical fatigue and work stress. It is recommended that PT Qx management evaluate the current work system, including production targets and rest periods, to improve employee well-being and productivity
