Back pain is one of the most common discomforts experienced by pregnant women, especially in the third trimester, and can disrupt daily activities. One non-pharmacological effort to reduce this pain is pregnancy exercises. This study aimed to determine the effect of pregnancy exercises on reducing back pain intensity in pregnant women in the third trimester at the Lismarini Midwifery Center, Palembang City in 2025. This study was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population was all pregnant women in their third trimester, with a sample size of 32 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments used a questionnaire and a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to measure pain intensity. Data were analyzed using a t-test. The results showed a significant difference in back pain intensity before and after the prenatal exercise intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This demonstrates that prenatal exercise is effective in reducing back pain intensity in pregnant women in their third trimester. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a consideration for healthcare providers, especially midwives, to provide education and facilitate regular prenatal exercise for third-trimester pregnant women as a non-pharmacological effort to reduce back pain. For pregnant women, it is recommended to actively participate in prenatal exercise to obtain maximum benefits for health and comfort during pregnancy. Furthermore, future studies with larger samples and different methods are suggested to strengthen these findings.
