Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21, which affects body systems and developmental processes. Children with Down syndrome require special attention and care to ensure optimal growth and development. To achieve this, resilient parents are essential as the primary caregivers. This study aimed to describe the level of resilience among fathers and mothers of children with Down syndrome in the POTADS Community Jawa Barat. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design involving 154 respondents selected through quota sampling. The resilience instrument used was the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC 25) Indonesian adaptation by Reformasianto (2024), consisting of 23 items that had been tested for validity and reliability, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.92. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis by presenting the distribution of frequency, percentage, minimum and maximum values, mean, and standard deviation. The results showed that fathers were predominantly categorized as having a moderate level of resilience (70.6%), with the strongest resilience dimension in the aspect of self-control. Meanwhile, mothers were also predominantly categorized as having a moderate level of resilience (51.7%), with the strongest dimension in personal competence. Both fathers and mothers demonstrated the weakest dimension in the aspect of self-confidence. Based on the child’s age category, parents of children aged <5 years were predominantly categorized as having high resilience, while parents of children aged 5–9 years and 10–18 years were predominantly categorized as having moderate resilience. In conclusion, the resilience of fathers and mothers of children with Down syndrome is dynamic and can develop alongside the adaptation process at each stage of the child’s development. Therefore, continuous support is needed to enhance and sustain the resilience of fathers and mothers of children with Down syndrome.
