Abstract

The increase in internet usage among teenagers raises the risk of cyberbullying, which affects their mental health, emotional functioning, psychological condition, and academic performance. Although the phenomenon of cyberbullying has been widely reported globally and nationally, data regarding the prevalence, forms, and roles of students in cyberbullying in Bandung Regency is still limited. This study aims to describe cyberbullying among students at SMAN 1 Margahayu, Bandung Regency. This study uses a quantitative descriptive design with a survey approach. The population consisted of 1,410 students from all grade levels, with a sample of 312 students determined using the Slovin formula and the proportionate stratified random sampling technique, allocated proportionally to each grade level (106 students from grade X, 107 students from grade XI, and 99 students from grade XII). Data collection was conducted from February 3-7, 2026, using the Indonesian version of The Second Revision of the Revised Cyber Bullying Inventory (RCBI-II), which underwent a forward-back translation process and validity and reliability testing by Rasyada (2019), resulting in good validity and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.88. The research results show that 137 students (43.9%) acted as victims of cyberbullying, 72 students (23.1%) as perpetrators, 41 students (13.1%) as both perpetrators and victims, and 62 students (19.9%) were not involved. Victims are more commonly found among female students, 10th grade, with an internet access duration of 2-4 hours per day. Based on the form of action, flaming is the most common form of cyberbullying (61.2%), while impersonation is the least frequently found (32.6%). About half of the respondents played the role of victims of cyberbullying. Psychosocial health screening, strengthening digital literacy, and collaboration between healthcare professionals, schools, and families are needed in efforts to prevent and address cyberbullying..
