MEMBANGUN MOTIVASI DAN SENSE OF COMMUNITY REMAJA PELAYAN ALTAR MELALUI MEDIA FILM EDUKATIF–RELIGIUS

Purpose: This community service activity aimed to enhance the motivation and sense of community of adolescent altar servers while addressing the challenges of fluctuating service commitment and limited community attachment among youth in a church setting.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The project applied a participatory-reflective approach through the use of an educational-religious film. Activities included a film screening, guided group discussions, and individual written reflections conducted within the Altar Server Community (Komunitas Misdinar) of Hati Kudus Parish, Palembang.
Findings: The results showed that the activity helped participants internalize the meaning of service, develop empathy and responsibility, and strengthen their awareness of the importance of togetherness within the community. These outcomes indicate an initial improvement in motivation and social engagement among the adolescent altar servers.
Practical Implications: The findings suggest that film-based reflective activities can be practically implemented as an alternative method for youth faith formation and character development. This approach can support community mentors and church educators in creating more engaging and meaningful accompaniment programs for adolescents.
Originality/Value: This project highlights the innovative use of educational-religious film as a reflective medium to strengthen both individual motivation and communal bonds among adolescent altar servers, contributing a contextual and participatory model for community-based youth development.
