Abstract

Purpose: This community engagement programme aimed to strengthen students’ interpersonal intelligence through a talk show performance and collaborative guidance in developing the façade design of the Palembang Seminary Building.

Design/Methodology/Approach: The programme was conducted on May  and involved  students from a Syntax class. Interactive discussions, design mentoring, group work, observation, questionnaires, and reflective discussions were employed.

Findings: Active participation, improved idea expression, stronger collaboration, and greater confidence in group interaction were demonstrated. Basic principles of façade design, including aesthetics, function, building identity, and user comfort, were also understood. A preliminary façade design concept was produced collaboratively.

Practical Implications: Talk show-based learning combined with design mentoring can be applied to strengthen communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Originality/Value: Interpersonal intelligence development was integrated with a practical architectural design activity, enabling social and technical competencies to be developed simultaneously.
