Gambaran Pengetahuan dan Sikap Orang Tua Terhadap Pemberian Vaksin HPV Pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the leading cause of cervical cancer, and HPV vaccination is an effective primary prevention measure. The government has provided vaccines through the School Children Immunization Month (BIAS) program for 5th-6th grade elementary school students, but coverage is still below the national target. Parental knowledge and attitudes play an important role in children's immunization approval. This study aims to describe the knowledge and attitudes of parents of 5th-6th grade students at Al-Ma'soem Elementary School regarding HPV vaccination. The study used a quantitative descriptive design with a total sampling technique involving 78 parents from January to February 2026. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire on knowledge and attitudes about HPV vaccination, then analyzed univariately using frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that more than half of respondents (57.7%) had good knowledge, with 55 respondents (70.5%) having good knowledge about HPV infection, 70 respondents (89.7%) having good knowledge about cervical cancer, and 33 respondents (42.3%) having good knowledge about HPV vaccination. Meanwhile, more than half of the respondents, 43 (51.3%), had a positive attitude toward HPV vaccination. Overall, most parents had good knowledge and a positive attitude toward HPV vaccination. However, increased education, particularly regarding the technical aspects of vaccination, is needed to optimize vaccine acceptance through the BIAS program.
