Pengaruh Teknik Relaksasi Benson Terhadap Intensitas Nyeri Pada Pasien Post Operasi Fraktur Di Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang Tahun 2026

Abstract

Pain intensity in post-fracture surgery patients is the level of pain caused by tissue damage during surgery. In theory, the Benson relaxation technique can reduce pain through a relaxation response resulting from closing the eyes, regulating slow breathing, and repeating a word or prayer according to one's beliefs. This response increases the release of endorphins, reduces anxiety and muscle tension, thereby reducing the perception of pain.This study aimed to determine the effect of the Benson relaxation technique on pain intensity in post-fracture surgery patients. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital, Palembang. The sample consisted of 18 post-fracture surgery patients at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital, Palembang, in 2026.The results showed that almost all respondents experienced moderate pain before the Benson relaxation technique (87.1%). Most respondents experienced mild pain after the Benson relaxation technique (64.5%). The Benson relaxation technique did have an effect on pain intensity in post-fracture surgery patients.It is hoped that the Palembang Class I LPKA will incorporate Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy into its mental health development program for its youth.
