Abstrak

Safety climate is an important element in the work environment of nurses to ensure the safety of patients and health workers. Factors such as leadership, communication, training, workload, and organizational culture play a role in forming a good safety climate. A work environment that does not have a strong safety climate can increase the risk of medical errors, work injuries, and reduce the quality of nursing services, so it needs special attention. To determine the relationship between leadership style, communication, training, workload, and organizational culture with the safety climate of nurses in the inpatient ward. This study used a cross-sectional design on 49 inpatient nurses at a private hospital in Palembang. The sampling technique was total sampling according to the inclusion criteria. Primary data were collected using the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ) questionnaire and instruments regarding leadership style, communication, workload, training, and organizational culture. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between leadership factors (p-value 0.001), communication (p-value 0.000), training (p-value 0.004), workload (p-value 0.001), and organizational culture (p-value 0.000) on the safety climate of nurses in the hospital inpatient ward. Improvement is needed to create a safer work environment for nurses and patients. Management support, strengthening communication between teams, providing ongoing occupational safety training, better managing nurses' workload, and building an organizational culture that is more conducive to safety are needed to improve safety climate knowledge.
