Abstrak

Students writing their theses face various academic and emotional demands, including completing final assignments, supervision processes, clinical practice, and preparation for further education. These pressures may lead to stress, anxiety, emotional exhaustion, decreased motivation, and even burnout. To cope with these challenges, students require adaptive self-regulation skills, one of which is self-compassion, defined as the ability to treat oneself with kindness when facing difficulties, failure, or distress. This study aimed to describe the level of self-compassion among 2022 nursing students who were writing their thesis at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design with a total sample of 214 students selected using total sampling technique. Data were collected using the 26-item Self-Compassion Scale (Skala Welas Diri) with a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to obtain frequency distributions, percentages, and mean values. The results showed that the average self-compassion score was 3.32 (SD = 0.45), categorized as moderate. The majority of respondents (62.6%) had moderate levels of self-compassion, 36.4% had high levels, and 0.9% had low levels. These findings indicate that most students possess adequate emotional regulation capacity in coping with thesis-related stress, although further institutional support is recommended
