Gout arthritis is a disease caused by purine metabolism disorders characterized by increased uric acid levels in the blood, causing pain and inflammation in the joints. This disease can reduce the patient's quality of life if not treated properly. Patient compliance in taking medication plays a crucial role in achieving optimal therapy results because non-compliance with medication can result in joint damage and tophi (small white bumps) that usually appear on the big toe and on the ankles, which can cause inflammation, swelling, and pain, making it difficult for sufferers to carry out daily activities. The sample in this study were respondents who were willing to collect data and were over 60 years old. The study aimed to determine the relationship between medication adherence and the quality of life of gout patients at the Batumarta II Community Health Center (UPTD). This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken using a total sampling technique of 63 respondents. The research instruments included the MMAS-8 questionnaire to assess compliance and the WHOQOL-BREF to assess the patient's quality of life. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that the majority of patients had a high level of satisfaction (41.3%), moderate (36.5%), and low (22.2%). There was a significant relationship between medication adherence and patients' quality of life in the physical domain (p = 0.004). In conclusion, the presence of medication has a positive effect on the quality of life of gout patients, especially in the physical health aspect. Continuous patient education is needed to improve therapy adherence and overall quality of life.
