Gambaran Distres Psikososial Pasien Kanker Payudara pada Fase Pengobatan di RSUD Welas Asih Bandung

Abstrak

Breast cancer is a global health problem that not only causes physical effects but also leads to various psychosocial distress affecting quality of life and treatment outcomes. Therefore, psychosocial screening is important to identify problems early and determine appropriate interventions. This study aimed to describe psychosocial problems across different domains among breast cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Surgical Oncology Clinic and Chemotherapy Unit of Welas Asih Regional Hospital. A quantitative descriptive design was used with an accidental sampling technique involving 103 respondents. Data collection was conducted over one month, during the third and fourth weeks of December 2025 and the first and second weeks of February 2026 using the Psychosocial Distress Questionnaire–Breast Cancer (PDQ-BC), which includes nine domains: trait anxiety, state anxiety, depressive symptoms, social support, social problems, physical problems, body image, sexual problems, and financial problems. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis based on cut-off points and mean scores. The results showed that the highest proportion of problems was found in depressive symptoms (47.6%) and trait anxiety (39.8%), while the lowest was in social problems (1%). A total of 53.4% of respondents needed referral to social workers and 15.5% to psychologists. These findings show that depression and anxiety are common among respondents and require serious attention in healthcare services. Therefore, nurses have an important role in early detection, providing psychosocial support, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
