Abstrak

HIV/AIDS remains a major global public health problem, with high incidence and mortality rates. A total of 39.0 million people were living with HIV in 2022, increasing to 39.9 million in 2023 and 40.8 million in 2024. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the primary treatment for HIV/AIDS and has been proven effective in improving patients' health outcomes. However, its effectiveness is largely influenced by patients' adherence to taking medication consistently as prescribed. Poor adherence may lead to treatment failure, drug resistance, and a decline in patients' quality of life. One of the factors that may enhance treatment adherence is family support. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and adherence to antiretroviral therapy among people living with HIV/AIDS. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted at Sukarami Community Health Center, Palembang City. The study population consisted of people living with HIV/AIDS, with a total sample of 52 respondents selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through univariate analysis to describe the frequency distribution of the variables and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test to examine the relationship between variables. The results showed that the majority of respondents had low family support (25 respondents; 48.1%), while most respondents demonstrated a high level of adherence to antiretroviral therapy (50 respondents; 96.2%). Furthermore, the largest proportion of respondents had low family support despite exhibiting high adherence to ART (46.2%). Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.254, indicating that there was no significant relationship between family support and adherence to antiretroviral therapy among people living with HIV/AIDS
