Publication Ethics

Jurnal Ilmiah Keuangan dan Bisnis is a scholarly publication that contains research findings in the fields of Economics, Management, Business, Finance, and Accounting that have not been previously published. This statement of scientific ethics is a declaration of ethics for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, including managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. This statement of scientific publication ethics is based on the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, aiming to help improve the quality of scientific journals in accordance with international standards and to uphold ethical values in publications, namely neutrality, fairness, and honesty. The Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications consists of the Code of Ethics for Scientific Journal Managers, Code of Ethics for Scientific Journal Editors, Code of Ethics for Scientific Peer Reviewers, and Code of Ethics for Scientific Journal Authors.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief Editor:

  1. Determine the journal's name, scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the editorial membership.
  3. Define the relationship between the publisher, editor, peer reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respect confidentiality, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyrights.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, peer reviewers, and readers.
  7. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
  8. Publish the journal regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funds for the sustainability of journal publication.
  10. Build networks and collaborations.
  11. Enhance the quality of the journal.
  12. Prepare licenses and other legal aspects

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor:

  1. Provide comments on the author's writing to ensure readers understand the author's intended message, through comments written on the manuscript and/or discussion facilities on the journal's website.
  2. Provide language-related comments according to the standardized language of the journal.
  3. Strive for continuous improvement in publication quality.
  4. Prioritize objective freedom of expression.
  5. Provide corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary.
  6. Ensure that the author's writing does not involve sensitive issues or anything that could harm the Publisher and coordinate the author's writing with the publisher's editorial leadership if the writing is somewhat controversial.
  7. Accept, review, and address complaints from all parties involved in journal publication.
  8. Support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
  9. Avoid defending personal opinions, authors, or third parties that may result in biased decisions.
  10. Encourage authors to make improvements to their work until it is suitable for publication.
  11. Layout the manuscript to be published in accordance with the journal template.
  12. Assist the Chief Editor in finalizing the collection of manuscripts before printing and publishing, especially in terms of language, format, and layout.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Peer Reviewer:

  1. Review manuscripts as objective and unbiased written feedback on the scholarly value and contributions of the manuscript to the development of knowledge.
  2. Review the manuscript substantively, not grammatical or typographical errors, and ensure the accuracy, novelty, and authenticity of the manuscript.
  3. Avoid providing criticism or comments of a personal nature.
  4. Maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing information contained in the manuscript to others.
  5. Be free from any interventions related to friendship, competition, work relationships, religion, politics, nationality, gender, commercial considerations, and other relationships that could lead to biased decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Author:

  1. Writing Standards: Present accurate articles on the research conducted and provide an objective discussion of the significance of the research. Research data must be presented accurately in the article.
  2. Research Data Access: Authors may be asked to provide raw data for the manuscript under review and must be able to provide public access to that data if possible, and must be able to retain the data for a reasonable period after publication.
  3. Originality and Plagiarism. Plagiarism in all forms is unethical behavior in the publication of scholarly works and is unacceptable. Authors must ensure that all presented work is original, and if the author has used the work and/or words of others, proper citations must be provided. Various forms of plagiarism exist, such as claiming someone else's writing as one's own, copying or paraphrasing substantial portions of someone else's work without proper attribution, and claiming research results conducted by others. Self-plagiarism, or auto-plagiarism, is one form of plagiarism. Auto-plagiarism involves quoting results or sentences from one's own previously published work without proper citation.
  4. Submission Guidelines. Authors should not publish the same manuscript in more than one journal. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal is unethical behavior in the publication of scholarly works and is not acceptable.
  5. Citation of Reference Sources. Proper acknowledgment of others' work must always be done. Authors should cite influential publications in the preparation of their work. Information obtained personally, such as in conversations, correspondence, or discussions with third parties, should not be used or reported without written permission from the source of that information.
  6. Authorship. The author is someone who has made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the writing in the article. All parties who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors are included in the manuscript, and all co-authors have read and approved the final version of the work and agreed to submit the manuscript for publication.
  7. Hazards and Human Subjects. If the manuscript involves procedures or equipment with unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these within the manuscript. If the manuscript involves human subjects, the author must ensure that the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in accordance with relevant regulations and institutional committees' approvals. The author must include a statement in the manuscript that consent for experiments with human subjects has been obtained. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed. Approval, permission, and statements must be obtained if the author wishes to include case details or other personal information in the manuscript. Written consent must be retained by the author, and a copy of the consent or evidence that consent has been obtained must be provided to the journal if requested.
  8. Errors in Published Writing. When authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are responsible for promptly notifying the journal editor and cooperating with the editor to retract or correct the work. If the editor receives information from a third party that a published work contains significant errors, the author is responsible for promptly retracting or correcting the work or providing evidence to the editor regarding the accuracy of the original work.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Website Administrator.

The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the journal website. Specifically, the duties of the Website Administrator include:

  1. Preparing the journal website;
  2. Configuring system options and managing user accounts;
  3. Registering editors, reviewers, and authors;
  4. Managing journal features;
  5. Viewing statistical reports; and
  6. Uploading/publishing accepted papers.
